Starting up a Coffee Shop/Cyber Cafe - 29-04-2007, 08:48 PM

Hi, me my partner and a friend and his partner have talked briefly about wanting to start our own business, we have come up with coffee shop or cyber cafe because that is what my partner and my friends partner do at the moment, they work for a coffee shop my partner is the manager of one of the sites so she runs this site by herself so she knows everything the is to know about running a coffee shop except for the financial/business side.

I am looking to you guys for some advice on what to do next, well basically where to start as none of us really have any clue when it comes to stuff like this.

Thank you in advance.

It's probably worth an initial visit at least as they can advise on issues local to your area and perhaps specifically to your business.

I have given bus link a ring and they will be sending me some information packs shortly, what is the first thing you should do when trying to setup your own business is it best to start with the business plan first if so is it worth buying the business plan from here ?

We started last night writing out everything we needed to start the shop and we also have a meeting on friday with a very large and well known coffee brand as the coffee we will be selling will be a well known brand i.e Costa or Starbucks.

You need a solid business plan to start off with. Once written, people like business link can advice you on its contents. You especially need it if you are seeking investment or loans.

I will be seeking investment. I was also wondering where the best place to find my research I want to find out how much the coffee shop business has grown over the past 10 - 20 years I also want to know figures for failure and success in this field compared to over types of businesses.

I am also strugling to come up with a catchy name for my shop so if anyone could share there suggestions that would be brill, thanks.
